With lights low, and music loud, we ride to the beat as a pack. We’re taking you to Coachella, not the Tour De France.
At Westward, our bikes are anything but stationary. With weighted arm movements to build upper body strength, and dance-like choreography, we ride to the rhythm of carefully crafted playlists. Staying seated while you cycle? Not gonna happen. Our instructor-led classes are high-intensity, challenging every inch of your body and leaving you toned, energized, and very, very sweaty.
While we love to pedal hard, you won’t find any metrics dashboards, high-tech projectors, or competition in our studio. We’re a community, and we believe that real health isn’t about numbers, it’s how movement makes you feel. That’s why there’s more to our method than making your heart race; our music-driven classes are designed to bring you back into your body, engage and inspire your mind, and connect you to the energy of the group. The more you give, the more you receive.
“Fantastic music and atmosphere - sweat towels & cycling shoes included! Great all over body workout and you can go at your own pace. Highly recommend.”
"What an intense cycling session!! Absolutely loved it.. Ambience 10/10. They also have a friendly dog (petting a dog for the first time in ages) . No wonder they have no negative reviews. Definitely 5 stars!"
"I’ve been coming here for a while now and can honestly say it’s the most fun exercise I’ve done! All the instructors are great and slightly different which keeps it interesting! And such a welcoming team in the studio - a hard but great workout!"
"Love this place. Awesome workout that is different every time in the most friendly atmosphere. Be careful you’ll get hooked and Westward will soon have to be part of your weekly routine."
I’ve never found a workout class that I’ve ever really loved or stuck with and I’m coming up to 100 rides at Westward soon. I love how wonderful all the instructors are, super friendly, welcoming and non-judgy. Annabelle is a great motivator as the team captain and all round good pup. Every class seems different, and I never feel bored. Westward is a really important part of my weekly routine now and I don’t know what I would do without them!

Westward Cycle is by far my favorite gym in Auckland, although it’s more like a community than just a gym. Sarah, Shawn and the crew are so welcoming, knowledgeable and make the classes fun & challenging. Annabelle is always there to welcome you. Highly recommend!

We pride ourselves on providing more than the basics. Take advantage of our fully stocked shower, well-appointed beauty bar, and more:
Unlike other indoor cycling studios and big box gyms, we prefer small format. At less than 20 riders per class, our vibe is intimate and our attention individualized.
We love getting to know our riders beyond their names, and supporting whatever goals they have both on and off the bike.
To make the most of your ride + recovery with ease, we’ve got a few extras on-hand:
@forthebettergood_ Water ($5):
leave your empty bottle with us for pickup—they’re commercially compostable!
Nuun electrolyte tablets ($15 for 10 tablets): choose between caffeinated (to help fuel your class) or regular (to help with post-class recovery)
Small classes, thoughtful amenities, and inclusive community. From beginning to end, your experience matters most.
With low impact and limitless potential, our rhythm cycling method is fully adaptable to all fitness levels and personal goals. Whether you’re a first time rider or a seasoned athlete, we’ve got you covered: read our First Ride Guide for everything you need to know.
All rides are a two way street; the way you show up to class is equally important as the energy your instructor brings to the room. Magic will happen when you keep your mind open, your energy intentional, and your attitude in check.
No hiding in the back—we’re high energy, and you’re part of the show! From a place of positivity and excitement, we encourage—and at times demand—cheering, clapping, and interaction with your fellow riders. (Just save any socializing for after class so you don’t disrupt the flow for those around you!) The more you give, the more you receive.
As a place for our riders to disconnect from the demands of everyday life, cellphones are not allowed in the studio space. Any trackers (FitBits, Apple Watches, etc) must be turned to ‘Silent’ / ‘Theater Mode’ so as not to disturb your fellow riders’ experience.

How is Westward Cycle different from the cycling classes offered at my local gym?
Think of us like a dance party on a bike. Unlike traditional indoor cycling classes, we choreograph every ride to the beat of the music, incorporating dance-like movements, arm weights, and abdominal exercises for a total-body workout. Compared to other spin classes, we spend more time out of the saddle, using higher RPM and lower resistance. When you ride at Westward, the lights are low, the music is loud, and you’re guaranteed to sweat your way to a leaner, toned body.

How is Westward Cycle different from the cycling classes offered at my local gym?
There is no ‘introductory’ or 101 class at Westward. Every single rider + instructor started as a beginner – clumsy, uncoordinated, groping to find the beat in the dark. We welcome new riders in any and all our classes.

Expect your first few classes to be challenging, but rewarding. Regular riders agree that it typically takes 2-3 classes to “get it,” so it’s totally normal to feel a little lost during your first ride. Just like any new sport or skill, you’ll get a little better and more comfortable with each ride, and as you acclimate to our rhythm cycling method, you’ll learn how to maximize your experience in class.
Regardless of previous experience or fitness level we encourage you to take the first few classes at your own pace. Got questions, or need help to set up and clip in? Don’t be shy—our instructors and staff are happy to assist.

How is Westward Cycle different from the cycling classes offered at my local gym?
Nope! This is a common misconception. Westward Cycle is designed to give riders lean, toned bodies. Compared to other indoor cycling methods, our classes have higher RPM (quick rotations, or “revolutions per minute”) and lower overall resistance, making your body leaner and more toned while building your endurance. This full-body cardio workout just happens to be a killer abs sculptor too!

Within a 45-minute class, you can expect to burn between 350-600+ calories, depending on your body weight and strength. In other words, prepare to work it ALL, and work it hard in just 45 minutes. Whether you’re short on time or not, this is a quick, fun workout that delivers major results.

YES! We welcome EVERYONE, so come as you are. No matter your previous experience or fitness level, indoor cycling is a great low-impact exercise with limitless potential. We focus on community over competition, and mindset over metrics. All new riders are encouraged to go at their own pace - showing up for yourself is the only thing that really counts.

How is Westward Cycle different from the cycling classes offered at my local gym?
Unlike typical running shoes, cycling shoes have a very stiff sole, so the power produced by your leg muscles goes straight to the pedal instead of being absorbed by the cushion of a running shoe. This results in a more efficient ride, and a fuller use of your leg. In other words, a more intensified cardio experience, and more calories burned. Since we spend 90% of each ride out of the saddle (not seated), cycling shoes also give you better control so you can ride to the beat, and make your ride more comfortable overall.
While we offer complimentary SPD cleats in most shoe sizes on a first-come-first-serve basis, size runs are limited so we still encourage riders to bring running shoes to the studio.

How is Westward Cycle different from the cycling classes offered at my local gym?
Yes! Indoor cycling is an excellent, low-impact exercise for pregnant women. (Even so, you should get the green light from your midwife or GP before exercising during pregnancy, in case of any underlying medical conditions that may limit your activity options.)
Prior to class, let your instructor know that you’re pregnant, especially if your baby bump isn’t obvious. (It’s important he or she knows why you might need to take it a bit easier, slip off to the bathroom, or drink extra water.) Your instructor can also recommend exercise modifications and bike adjustments to keep both you and baby happy and healthy on the bike.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to the Westward Cycle team at hello@westwardcycle.co.nz.

Does Westward offer free trials or free classes?
No, we don’t offer free one-off classes, but we do have two discounted intro packages for new riders who want to try us out:
First 2 RIDES for $35, or First Week Unlimited for $45.
Because we know that your first taste of our rhythm cycling method will be a little overwhelming, our intro offers are intentionally crafted to provide you with at least two classes; your second experience will be infinitely better than the first. (Imagine showing up to a dance class where everybody knows all the moves, and trying to keep up!) It takes a minimum of 2-3 rides to really find your groove on the bike, so the more you ride, the more fun you’ll have!
Do you offer a monthly membership?
How do I cancel my Unlimited Membership?
Why we don’t offer free trials or classes
We’re a small, independently owned studio, and we take pride in the amount of time, energy, and effort that goes into training our employees, prepping for each workout, and providing our riders with the best possible experience in and out of class. We believe in paying fair wages and supporting our community, and we wouldn’t be able to do that if we offered free classes or trials.
Does Westward offer free trials or free classes?

I signed up for a class, but now I can’t ride. What is your cancellation policy?
How do I cancel my Unlimited Membership?
After the 3-month term, you can cancel all future auto-payments at any time. **To cancel, please email hello@westwardcycle.co.nz 5 BUSINESS DAYS PRIOR TO YOUR NEXT PAYMENT.**
All of our memberships and auto-payments are managed through MindBody, so there’s no need for you or us to notify a third-party payment processor. (After all, we’re in the business of fitness, not headaches.)
For any additional questions related to Unlimited Memberships, don’t hesitate to reach out by calling the studio or emailing hello@westwardcycle.co.nz.

There is plenty of metered street parking on Morgan Street, Carlton Gore Road and George Street. Pay parking for metered spots is in effect from Monday – Friday, 9am to 5pm. You’ll also find two carparks at the end of Kingdon Street.
PLEASE NOTE:
Please be respectful of our neighbouring businesses and refrain from parking in the parking lot across the street from Westward Cycle. As tempting as it may be, they do tow cars that aren’t registered with their businesses.
